ENGLISH VERSION

Inger Elisabeth Birn, born in Denmark, took op painting in 1985. She had moved to London to study at the Chelsea School of Arts, in drawing, life drawing, watercolor, and oils. She was fortunate to take lessons with skilled teachers such as the sculptor Peter Stanley and the painter Linda Nugent. Inger Birn’s studies were continued in the South of France with the painter Christian Geai who contributed to the further development of her work.

An essential source of inspiration for Inger Birn has been her husbands’ iron foundries and other factories she visited worldwide. These experiences, inspired but the contrast between the red glowing light of the molten iron and the darkness of the foundry, brought her to the classical concept of pectoral art: Clairobscur.

Other works take place in the great nordic scenery with inspirations from composers such as Edward Grieg, amounting into a series of 47 paintings. They are grouped into the series: Green, red, blue, and earth tone.

Each series expresses the different impressions made by the many moods of reflected light.
